FSC Canada (The Forest Stewardship Council) is one of the newest members of the Canadian Council of Aboriginal Business (CCAB), an organization that helps to build bridges between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples, businesses, and communities. Through this membership, FSC hopes to help foster business relationships between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal businesses and communities to advance sustainable economic growth across Canada.
“Aboriginal communities continue to nation build, both organizations offer tools related to achieving sustainability. Tools which respect and honor self-determination as communities identify pathways to prosperity. This includes recognizing UNDRIP and FPIC in that exercise which is a substantive differentiator for FSC’s standard in the market place” says David Flood, chair of the FSC Canada Board of Directors.
The FSC Canada Board, comprised of balanced representation of Aboriginal, Economic, Environment and Social chambers, unanimously supported the membership with CCAB.
