Saskatchewan-based potash mining company Nutrien Ltd. is now on the hook for $150,000, after they were found at fault for a 2018 workplace incident that left a worker with serious injuries.

The worker was injured while operating a solid bowl centrifuge, a machine used to separate substances from one another, at Nutrien’s Rocanville mine.

According to coverage by CBC, Nutrien pled guilty to violating subsection 12(c) of Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety Regulations. The charge stated that the company failed to provide proper training and supervision for the worker to use the equipment, leading to the incident.
