The largest global potash producer, Nutrien, is celebrating 65 years of production, innovation, and growth. Established in Saskatchewan in 1959, the company now operates a network of six low-emission, technologically advanced mines across the province.

Consequently, the potash produced in SK is a key component of the 26 million tonnes of potash, nitrogen, and phosphate products produced annually by the company. The products play a crucial role in improving food security worldwide.

Nutrien has commemorated its anniversary by commissioning local artist, Josh Goff, to paint a dynamic and visually impactful “65” mural.

“I’m hoping to tell a meaningful story of Nutrien’s history and future,” said Goff. “By integrating elements of local landscapes, agricultural life, and the essence of the potash mine, I aimed to capture the mutual growth of the company and the province over the past 65 years. Working with the land always reminds me of the many people I’ve met and our shared contribution to farming.”

Nutrien stands as the largest private sector employer in Saskatchewan, with a workforce of over 4,200 employees, who are at the heart of Nutrien’s mission. Combined with its leading agriculture retail network that services approximately 500,000 grower accounts worldwide, Nutrien is not just a company in Saskatchewan, it is a community partner dedicated to contributing to the well-being of everyone in the province. In 2023, the company partnered with over 280 community organizations, with employees contributing over 12,000 volunteer hours to organizations aimed at improving lives.

According to a company, its future is one of growth, innovation, sustainable mining practices, and fostering strong relationships. “We are here to stay, committed to Feeding the Future and enhancing the province of Saskatchewan for generations to come.”
