Brandt supports Canadian miners from coast to coast, now as the exclusive dealer for Sleipner
randt is now the exclusive Canadian dealer for the complete line of heavy equipment haulers from Sleipner Finland Ltd. These products are used in the mining, quarrying, and construction industries to improve efficiency and reduce the carbon footprint of operations.
Canadian Sleipner customers will now have local support from the largest equipment dealer in the country and will unlock the advantages mining companies around the world have leveraged for years.
Sleipner has a presence in more than 50 countries, and this is the first time they’ve had a national sales and support presence in Canada. Their products are proven to deliver travel-time reductions of up to 85% when transporting tracked or wheeled equipment in tonne-class sizes from 30 to 570, including front shovels, large dozers, excavators, wheel loaders, trucks, drills, and more.
This uniquely simple solution solves the challenge of transporting heavy tracked equipment in the production cycle and during maintenance intervals.
“By transporting equipment more quickly and easily, you can deploy it more effectively, and are able to do more work safely, simply, and quickly,” notes Jim Thompson, Brandt Vice President of Sales – Mining. “The mining industry is always looking for ways to eliminate waste and reduce its environmental footprint, and the Sleipner and Brandt partnership will help them do that more efficiently.”
Producers will see multiple benefits by enhancing the mobility of their production-class equipment. This includes safety, productivity increases of up to 20%, lower overall operating costs due to reduced fuel and maintenance costs, and a measurable reduction in carbon emissions.
Sleipner products allow miners to move their drill out of the blast area in minutes, for example, making planning easier and more effective. And operators can also load every size of dozer in less than two minutes and transport them at 15 kilometres per hour, helping them push more material and lower costs.
What this adds up to for the mining industry is a lower total cost of ownership, higher mechanical availability of equipment, more productivity, and increased effective machinery use.
Brandt has already sold their first two Sleipner units. An E550 dolly transport system went to a customer in Quebec in March, and the DB130 trailer system for off-highway use will be delivered in May to a customer in Ontario. The latter is the first of its kind sold in North America. It will be paired with a specially modified John Deere 460 ADT, the first time this combination has been used in the world!
“Our customers have told us that they need these innovative products because of the efficiencies that they deliver for mining operations,” says Thompson. “Sleipner is a world-class manufacturer, and we’re proud to add this premium product line to our existing heavy equipment lineup.”
When Sleipner products are used alongside other technology from Brandt, the level of gains impacting mining operations is unmatched. Examples include the iVolve fleet management software system, which gives operations the control they need; Topcon machine control, which makes heavy equipment easier to operate and more precise; and John Deere innovation via hybrid electric equipment that boasts important safety and reliability systems.
“Partnering with Brandt was a natural fit for Sleipner as we expand our frontline presence in the Canadian market,” says Sleipner CEO Jukka Koponen. “Our customers deserve the very best, and Brandt’s long-term mining industry experience, parts and service infrastructure, and reputation for customer support are unmatched.”
A full range of Sleipner products, along with replacement parts and service personnel, will be accessible through Brandt’s 24/7/365 coast-to-coast support network – Canada’s most comprehensive.
